Companion Animal Rescue, Inc. (CARI) PO Box 1209 Madison, Georgia 30650 is an all volunteer, non-profit organization. Our organization is dedicated to working endlessly to save the lives of animals in danger of euthanasia.
CARI is committed to providing temporary care for abandoned, relinquished, lost or unclaimed domestic animals until appropriate, permanent homes can be found. Although we are an all foster program, we do have an Adoption Center, Low Cost Spay/Neuter program and a Mixed Market Place in Rutledge, Ga. that opened in January! This facility and all utilities have been donated to better the lives of animals and the people that love them! All profits from the marketplace goes directly to the animals in our care!
C.A.R.I. is not a shelter, but rather a foster program. Our foster care system affords animals in our guardianship a greater opportunity to find a loving, healthy home either directly through us or in partnership with another reputable rescue organization. We have lots of animals in our care and many more awaiting their chance to be part of our foster program. With only a few exceptions, C.A.R.I. exclusively rescues animals from South Georgia Animal Control Facilities. C.A.R.I.’s dedication to the animals in the community extends beyond rescue and adoption. C.A.R.I. provided the surgical equipment and opened a new Spay/Neuter Clinic location so that our county and surrounding counties can take advantage of our low-cost spaying and neutering services to the public, regardless of financial status. As we continue to grow, our plan is to develop further projects which will directly benefit the animals in C.A.R.I.’s care and the companion animals in the community.
Thank you for your interest in one of Companion Animal Rescue's adoptable animals!
Please note that we do not adopt animals to students. We feel that most students are not in a position for a successful adoption as far as permanent housing or permanent jobs. If you believe your circumstances lead you to adopting a pet for life, please email me that info prior to filling out our application.
Filling out the application does not "bind" you to the adoption of a particular pet, but gives us an idea of your wants and needs in a new four-legged family member and if that dog/cat will be a possible fit into your household. CARI has a great reputation "matching" the right pet to the right family and lifestyle. Once all the applications have been processed for suitability for a rescue...We let the approved applicant know by email or phone and set up a meet and greet!
All of our volunteers have day jobs, families and pets of our own...so your patience through this process is greatly appreciated. Our rescues are in Foster Homes, not a shelter. We believe this better prepares our adoptables for living in a home and within a family. Therefore, visits are a bit more planned out than if our pets were housed in a shelter setting.
Please make sure you provide us with a reliable Vet reference listed on your application. This information assures us that your pets…both past and/or present have been medically cared for and are up to date with all shots, tests and preventatives. We do check your vet reference! We also ask for 2 personal references, we will email them. Please give us time to process applications, checking references both Vet and personal, take time.
Our non-profit organization gets up to 50 inquiries, questions and applications daily so e-mails are our normal means of communication.
